nico.in.the.bus? All comes from a mistake. During a world tour trip in 2001-2002, while I was in Chile, I wanted to open a new e-mail account in Yahoo "nicointheworld". While doing that, I was very much preoccupied by finding out a bus to reach my following destination, and I typed by mistake "nicointhebus" instead. I have finally kept it because first I found it less pretentious, and second I found it very consistent with my daily life. Travelling as a backpacker, it is first spending an incredible amount of time in public transportation means, and specifically in buses. I have mainly met the most interesting people in this kind of transportation means, locals or other backpackers equally. Sharing with locals the daily life of public transports, it is sharing a real piece of local life, and this is a way to move a bit from strict tourism to something that I would call travelling. Since 2008, I have considerably reduced my trip experiences, after having two lovely babies twins, Lola & Hugo. Clearly, my lenses now focus more on them than on anything else. I am in a big hurry to beat the road again with them, as well as with my Hungarian wife Eszter. By the way, this is why there is an Hungarian version of this site. I am very proud of this rarity! Which photo set? After years of a courageous and dogmatic resistance, I left in 2006 the film camera universe to move to the digital one. Today, I shoot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and four Canon lenses : a 50 f/1.4, a 16-35 f/2.8, a 28-70 f/2.8 and a 100-400 f/4.5-5.6. The photos made prior to 2006 have been mainly made with some Canon reflex film cameras. So, the up-loaded photos are partly scans from my films, made by a labo round the corner, without any specific request. All photos are edited on Photoshop. Rules of the Best Of? I up-load some of my photos into www.flickr.com. The ranking of the Best Of is established according to the feedback I have on my photos from other members of this site. Thus, it is not "my" Best Of, but the one of the people who have the kindness to have a look to my work. I update it very lazily, and if you want to have a look to my Flickr page, please go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicointhebus/. |
